Fusion Capital backs successful Ugandan Publisher & Printer

Fusion Group has recently agreed to finance the expansion of Mukono Bookshop Printing and Publishing Company Limited, based in Kampala, Uganda. Total financing of $2 million has been provided to facilitate further growth of an already successful publishing, printing and book-retailing business.

Musa Cheptarus, Fusion Capital’s Country Manager in Uganda, says:

“Mukono is a unique, vertically integrated business, well-placed to grow in line with the growth of the general economy, here in Uganda. But, in order to take advantage of the opportunity the company faces, better equipment and more working capital are key. Fusion will help Mukono to unlock this opportunity.”

Mukono Bookshop Printing and Publishing Company is a family-owned and managed business, run by a man with a passion for books and reading – Chairman & Managing Director Augustine Kasozi. Mr Kasoki began his career as a school teacher, but since then has built up an impressive track-record as a businessman, not only in the publishing and retailing sectors but also in the hospitality business. He owns two thriving hotels in Kampala, The Colline Hotel and the Sports View Hotel.

Fusion Group’s Executive Chairman, Dr. Phil Goodwin, says: “Mr. Kasoki is exactly the type of client we are seeking to support and finance in East Africa. He is a proven entrepreneur, prepared to back his own good judgement, and who understands how to grow and expand a family business into a substantial going concern. We very much look forward to a strong partnership with him, as his business grows further, in the years ahead.”
